I have been trying to end my contract with this company for 6 weeks: first, they collected the bill for July 2015 and told me to send a letter asking to terminate the contract. Check, Check. Done. Then they told me that I could not pay because they needed to review my request to end the contract. They asked me to call back in a few days. Today I called back and they said "yes, we can terminate the contract, provided you pay for August 2015 and for a one year membership renewal that begings in August 2015". Wait what? -------- So I was left with no other choice than filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. Trying 2 end contract for 6 weeks now. Today they tell me that before ending contract I must pay for a new year of membership. I have been a member for 2 years. My exspouse use to pay. I received an email that he is no longer paying so I contact them to proceed with ending the contract. They told me to pay for current month July 2015, and for another month August 2015. Today they tell me that I also have to pay for a new one-year membership before they end my contract. Manager Mike would not come to the phone to talk to me. Accounting only answers to customers one hour per day from 12 to 1pm, and at that time their phone is busy or accounting is busy and can't talk to clients. I just want to finish my membership with them. Pay them for the 2nd required month which is August 2015 and call it a day, but the staff won't go for it. With every call I make their is a new "charge" that they "forgot" to disclose during our first call. Your Desired Resolution: To pay for what they told me 6 weeks ago: current month (July 2015, which I already paid), and for the 2nd required month (August 2015). I do not understand the reason behing paying for one more year of membership if what I want to do is end such membership. This case will be reviewed by a complaint specialist at the Better Business Bureau, and then forwarded to the business for their response. interesting that no planet fitness employee has chosen to comment on this. probably because they are legit and followed the insane agreement regulations?

you guys are crazy and delusional. makes me wanna stay away forever and warn all my friends to NEVER step foot in a PF.

The dispecable owner at West Bloomfield,Mi location

Look i used to love coming to this location , loved the members, the trainers and the the young man and his wife who managed it for years were a pleasure, UNTIL I MET THE OWNER...A couple years ago things started breaking down hvac, and a few other amenities which is kind of ridiculous as I pay a yearly so called main. fee.

Management always tried their best to resolve but ultimately obviously dont pay for the repairs. Then the owner started to come in and work out frequently with 1 of the trainers who i also had no problems with...Again i had been a loyal paying member for years who reffered everyone i could. When i approached the owner to explain some of my valid complaints this joke of a man turned his back on me and called me quite a few nasty names ( What a man as Im a 58 years

old 4'11" women) and then was told my membership was being revoked.

Look i was treaded in such a manner i actually filed a complaint with the local police thats how rude this disgusting man was and still is. He dosnt deserve a dollar of his members money or the kind people whom work for him, the man seems more like a raging lunatic then a small business owner...needless to say ive joined a respectable facility with owners who appreciate my business!

Went to cancel in January was told I would not incur any further charges and I could use the membership thru feb15 th. However on fen 16 I got another months charge and an annual fee charge! I called and they said that is their policy when their employee clearly answered all my questions and advised I would not be charged anything more and my membership expired on feb15. Rep today says I have a membership through mar 15? All I am asking for is a refund of what was over charged because had I been told I was going to be charged anymore I wouldn't be complaining!!

FITNESS 19 IS A RIPOFF!!!!!!

I just had to pay $72.00 or my bill would go into collection! I have not been to the club for about 10 months. I told them I was not under contract and they agreed but if I wanted to cancel I had to fill out a form. I had changed checking accounts about 6 mo. ago because I am moving soon so no futher monies were deducted by Fitness 19...I recently started getting phone calls to pay or my credit rating would be damaged. I just came from the club after paying $72.00....on my account I used the club 3 times over 10 mo. ago....oh well! pay 72.00 and be on your way! THAT SUCKS!!

The staff is great, friendly and keep things clean. They aren't empowered to fix a request.

Its the owner who is absent and doesn't take care of his facility. Light bulbs out, and he makes excuses to why they aren't fixed.

At night time you have dark spots in the facility and make it difficult to see certain areas in the facility. He's never there, and when he is he gives you the same old canned responses.

Take pride in your product!!!!

Fitness 19 is now closed in Grayslake,customers were informed by mail, not by the staff! Everyone was transferred to Zip Fitness in Round Lake!

Shady Business

I cancelled my membership a while ago when the place started going downhill..no more staff at front desk, and never saw anyone cleaning the machines like I did when I first joined.

I stopped going over time and ended my membership, but they continued to charge after and I had to have my bank start rejecting all their charges.

Why am I writing this review so late? Because my wife ended her membership mid last year and we just noticed that they started charging us again last month. At this point I dont think I can give them the excuse of lazy bookkeeping or an honest mistake, and after seeing all the other reviews reporting the same thing it seems they do it on purpose. Thats just bad/shady business.

Fitness 19 Staff Review

I like the fitness 19 coz they have a sitter but what I don't like is their sitter marinelle. Whenever she's the sitter at fitness 19 daly city there's a problem with my son. And he cries whenever she's the sitter. But when there's a different sitter I don't have a problem at all... And i heard she was yelling to other kids.

Fitness 19 scams to withhold customer's advance deposit

This is in regards to the gym at 1350 S Park Victoria Dr #22, Milpitas, CA 95035.

I cancelled the gym membership for my mother on 10/2/15 and requested my advance deposit ($9) to be refunded . The membership contract that I signed with Fitness 19 says that I am entitled to a refund of my advance deposit if I do not wish to extend the membership for another month.

I spoke with Lloyd, the manager. He said that he would credit directly to my bank account and I would see it on 11/15/15. I waited until 11/30/15 and still did not see the refund in my bank. I called him around 12/7/15 to ask about the refund and was told that they would have to issue me a manual check and that his assistant, Natalie, would call me back. Natalie never called me. I followed up again on 12/10/15 and was told that it would take 1 week for me to receive my check. I expressed my dissatisfaction for the fact that I had to follow-up several times and that they never delivered on their promises. I asked for a firm date where I could receive my refund without further delay. I was told my refund check would be available on Thursday 12/24/15 at 2 PM. I was at the gym on the specified date at 2:30 PM. An associate named John looked through a pile of checks and could not find a check for me.

I requested to speak with the owner. John said that he could not disclose the owner information. Again, I was directed to speak with Lloyd who was not available. I was promised that Lloyd would call me back, which I doubt would happen. As of today, 12/24/15, after almost 3 months since I cancelled the membership and more than 6,7 phone calls, I have not received my money back. Despite being a transaction of small value, Fitness 19 clearly does not perform what they laid out in their contract nor their promises.

I too have been given the run arou d by lloyd. This is a franchise and there should be a contact. A corporate, or the place where they pay royalty to.

Slamming of equipment and workers ignoring it.

My partner and I have been members of the Eastpointe, Mi Fitness 19 since 2009. The workers in charge ignore the slamming of equipment (rule #7). It is really bad. We reported that it was awful and an ongoing thing and that they are going to lose members because of it. We were told that if we did not like it "do what you have to do" They are very hesitant to address issues. We go with several other couples who feel the same way.

Unperfessional customer service reps I called three diffrent times to inquire on menberships or deals. The reps were rude could or would not give straight answers when I asked about total cost of membership as I asked more indept questions they wanted to rush off phone and became even more rude. Not helpful at all. 7.95 deals total money down is 79.00 dollors. Not what they say they are. I will not be joining this money stealing gym any time soon. A RIP OFF!!!! And thats just asking about prices I could see the theif miles away.

You have to pay to get out of fitness 19

Year long member. I paid my monthly bill on November 13th and decided to drop membership but was told I had to come in person.

On November 30th I came in and they informed me that I had to pay final bill on 12-15-15 and my $29 yearly fee too before I could close my membership. You know the scam when you join and they tell you no contracts and pay month to month, quit anytime. All lies. I am a veteran and expected better treatment than getting ripped off by the gym I use to maintain my fitness level.

Oh, also no way to contact CEO or even find out who the CEO is. DO NOT GET ROBBED, GO ELSEWHERE>

It is Month to month...with a 30 day notice.(so I more billing will come out) ..so they are not lying to you. and if that $29 fee falls during your cancellation time. You have to pay it.

I actually mailed a letter to them stating that I no longer wanted a membership with them. No questions asked and not a extra dime trying to get out. Glad I did it that way.

Well had 24 dollars taken out at the wrong date totally, thats two months worth without any warning. Overdrawn now and had no return call from the accountant that did it. Good job fitness 19, way to take care of the consumer. Also had wells fargo take out 35 dollars for a overdraft fee. The real problem i have is that no one followed up, its like nothing happened. Guess ill go to the hym personally and call theyre corporate office.

I became a member prior to the gym location opening and the the gym itself, as far as I am concerned the gym itself was just fine. However in May of 2015 went into the location to cancel my membership, as required by their contract. Upon cancellation the employee took my DL and entered information into their system and informed me that I would receive the paperwork for the cancellation in the mail and would not be charged any longer. I found out today, in December, that not only have they continued to charge me every month, but also are charging me a annual maintenance fee. I contact the gym and was basically told they have no record of my cancellation so its my problem not theirs. In fact, the assistant manager Eliza, would not give me any information to contact anyone higher than her and actually told me at this point, "the buck stops with her since I had no proof". She said she did not work for the company during the time of my cancellation so she could not help me with what employees did before. This company is very poor with customer service, does not keep good records and is very rude. I will be contacting the franchise offices and letting them know what kind of people are representing their company name.

Staff very unfamilar with Gym policies

I recently called the Fitness 19 gym in west Mifflin where I initially signed up. I was charged $70.00 for this months dues. I spoke with 3 people there and none of them could figure out the math on why I was charged this amount of money. I ended up calling another Fitness 19 where they were very able and eager to help me and answered all my questions to my satifaction. I have been trying for 4 days to speak to a manager@ West Mifflin the staff is unsure of her hours, and also didn't know who the regional manager was!! We do not frequent this gym which I am very glad about.  I would recommend if you have any questions on memberships or charges call another gym to ask.
